BLOX Perspective Activity

This BLOX activity teaches children how to think about area and volume from various perspectives. First, children are asked a series of open ended questions, the purpose of which is to engage children and lead them down the path of experimentation, exploration, and utilization of their analytical skillsets. Rather than boxing children into one answer, they are given free reign to explore their thinking.

The activity concludes with handing children a BLOX (or any object lying around your house!) and asking them to draw it. Through what perspective does your child draw the BLOX?

Fun Fact: most children tend to draw the BLOX from the bird’s eye view.

An engraved BLOX that could be used in this activity.
