Ithaca Toys Works with Ithaca Generator

Ithaca Toys first started as the brainchild of founder Lee Kaltman, an Entrepreneurship and Personal Finance teacher at New Roots Charter School. A proponent of open-ended play and hands-on activities, Kaltman’s idea first started when he worked as a substitute teacher in 2017 at all Ithaca City School District elementary schools, bringing in blocks of wood to interact with young people. Slowly, he began developing his flagship product, NumberBLOX, providing children with the manipulatives and tactile tools needed to develop critical thinking, analysis, and STEM skills through play.

In his journey to bring NumberBLOX to life, Kaltman and his son reached out to Ithaca Generator to learn the ins and outs of making. The invaluable skills and knowledge gained continue to be integral in our manufacturing of BLOX and NumberBLOX, and to this day, we still work with Ithaca Generator to gain access to the tools needed to train our employees.
